Boutique OT
UX, Branding & Web Design

I partnered with Mitch, an occupational therapist, to design a boutique brand and website that transforms a traditionally dense OT sector into an accessible, modern experience.

The goal was to make services clear, approachable, and easy for elderly clients and their families to use, while also reflecting the professional, supportive ethos of the business.

Research & Discovery

To guide the design, I conducted quantitative interviews with elderly clients, healthcare providers, and other occupational therapists, alongside a competitor analysis of OT websites. The research uncovered key needs, frustrations, and opportunities that directly informed the website’s structure and user flows.

Branding & Identity

UX & Web Design

The website was designed to prioritise clarity, accessibility, and usability for elderly clients while remaining modern and professional.

Design Approach:

  • Large-format UI for readability and accessibility, tailored to elderly users.

  • Intuitive navigation and clear content hierarchy for easy exploration.

  • Inclusive design with high-contrast layouts, legible fonts, and simple page structures.

  • Aligned digital design with brand identity for cohesion across web and print materials.

  • Copy written in first person from Mitch, giving a personal, approachable voice that builds trust and connection with users.

  • Infographics and step-by-step guides to break up dense content and make information approachable.

  • Educational content written in clean, easy-to-digest language to explain OT services and driving assessments.

  • Relatable imagery featuring elderly users and their families to create an approachable, human-centered experience.

Website Features:

  • Clear CTAs on every page, including options for direct calls and online referrals.

  • Online referral form embedded for both clients and healthcare providers, streamlining application process.

  • Prominently displayed FAQs and contact information.

  • Considered accessibility needs, including text size, contrast, and layout simplicity for cognitive and visual ease.

Impact

The project delivered a cohesive brand and accessible digital presence that reflects Mitch’s professional ethos while serving elderly clients and their families.

Outcomes:

  • Clients can navigate the site easily and access services confidently.

  • Healthcare providers have access to simplified referral processes.

  • Mitch now has a consistent identity across both web & print materials.

  • The website provides an effective online presence, generating new client inquiries and supporting the launch of his business.

“Jess made the website development seamless. She delivered high-quality work quickly, stayed true to my vision, and explained her thought process clearly. I was able to confidently manage the site after launch. Knowledgeable, supportive, and attentive to every detail, she even designed my business cards and fliers, making the whole process empowering and smooth.”
